Shopping is a major reason why people choose to drive car for daily trips. Bike friendly is a service design project that emphasizes sustainable shopping both by letting bicycles in the supermarket (for great convenience!), and steering shoppers to buy in terms of their bicycle basket: daily and fresh.
Camilla, most daring of us, managed to prototype this by carrying through a complete shopping journey with a bike. We have confirmed that the service concept avoids many unnecessary steps such as unlocking your bike, putting lights on or rearranging your groceries, thanks to the integration of bicycle to the activity.
The project has been realized at Malmö University, master of interaction design in collaboration with Scott Meadows, Avissa Bigdelli and Camilla Jusis. It aims to contribute to City of Malmö’s sustainable vision for western harbour area.
